There is Purpose in Every Story

Welcome to my first post!

Soy ciudadana Americana por naturalización, Tejana de corazón, y Regia de nacimiento. I was born in Monterrey Nuevo Leon Mexico and raised in The Rio Grande Valley. When I first moved to the United States, I didn’t speak a word of English but interestingly enough the words “Hello” and  “Thank You” became my favorite words. For a long time, I felt I was trapped between two worlds- kind of like the India María- ni de aquí ni de allá. Just like many others, I came as a child into the country illegally. I was told to always keep a low profile so I wouldn’t be noticed by the border patrol.  Growing up, I faced challenges adapting to a new country, learning a new language and tried to figure out how to adapt to a new life without losing my roots, native language, culture and traditions.

My name is Elizabeth Roy and I would love to share my life journey with you. I used to think that showing my vulnerability was a sign of weakness but it was really my strength all along. In here I will share the experiences that shaped me, the traditions that I still cherish and practice, the unimaginable superstitious remedies that were passed from my family from generations, the authentic, direct, honest, and unapologetic way that I approach life.

I hope you enjoy this space as much as I do and let me inspire and motivate you through my life experiences, fashion tips, quotes and short stories.

    Elizabeth:

I’m very proud on how far you have gone with your business. Your story is very touching and inspirational, serving as a motivation for the young generation of today. You have undoubtedly become a role model for other women — especially Latinas, who may be currently struggling in life and share the same story as you. I wish you all the best and continued success on your goals. Keep up the good work; and as Frank Sinatra once said, “the best is yet to come!”

Sigue compartiendo tu experiencia.

Estoy a tus órdenes.

Elizabeth, I’m so proud of you for taking this leap and just going for it. It shows a vulnerable side to you, and it takes a lot for a person to be so open about their life and to share the struggles that they have been through with others. I truly believe that our experiences make us who we are and you are a person who I value and admire for overcoming so many obstacles in your life. I am looking forward to reading and learning more about your life and hoping to get some good fashion tips from you. I hope you know that you are a role model for my kids and especially my daughters who always look up to you. Continue being your authentic self, inspiring and motivating others!

      Elizabeth,
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I appreciate the support and motivation. I’m just trying to show a different side of my life that perhaps will help someone else find their purpose or get motivated to follow their dreams. I can’t even imagine what my life would be if I would have had role models as I was growing up. I hope to be a role model to all my nieces and nephews❣️

Thank you for sharing part of your story. I, like you, came to this country undocumented when I was 1 year old. Although I didn’t face as many adversities as you, my older siblings did. They had a difficult time adjusting to their new world. I’m extremely proud of you and what you have become! It’s in our heritage, to never give up and prevail. Remember that, “He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.” You’ve got a bunch of you to still share with the world.

Your story resonates with me! It takes a strong woman to overcome the obstacles that come with leaving your native country with nothing but the clothes on your back, not knowing what the future holds, but hoping and praying for a better life!
Through hard work and perseverance, it is evident that the ethnicity and language barriers were broken and you were able to overcome and be triumphant!
This is only a stepping stone that will catapult you to next level! The best is yet to come! Can’t wait to see what else you have to share to inspire women like me to continue to thrive, because we can!
    Godspeed!
